Sweden’s young talent pool produces another for Storm Products
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – Storm Products announced late this afternoon, from the Windy City, the signing of Sweden’s Daniel Fransson to a National and International Staff contract, under their Roto Grip brand. Fransson joins fellow Sverige countrymen Martin Larsen and Jesper Svensson as brand ambassadors representing the ‘Oval Bolt’ and ‘Roto Star’.
Daniel Fransson, born December 2, 1991 in Gothenburg, Sweden, is a right-handed kegler bowling in the international communities as well as, on the PBA Tour. The 23-year-old burst onto the bowling scene at the age of the age of 13 when he became a two-time Sweden Youth Champion winning back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004. And if there was any doubt about this rising young superstar he backed up the Sweden Youth Championships by medaling four times at the 2012 Iceland Nordic Junior Championships, earning a gold, two silvers and bronze in Master, Singles, Doubles and Team – respectively.
Since that time, his adult career has been very active with solid performances including 4 top-10 finishes with a fourth at the München Track Open (2013), ninth at the Ballmaster Helsinki (2013), eight at Florence International Open (2013) and tenth at the Storm San Marino Open (2013), to go along with 3 second-place finishes at the Aalborg International (2013), München Euro Brunswick Challenge (2014) and Roto Grip Polen Open (2015).
In the United States, Fransson has participated in several PBA Tour events most recently bowling the 2014 GEICO PBA WSOB VI last fall at South Point Casino in Las Vegas where he averaged 215.4 to finish 76th, out of 240 entries, in his first-ever PBA World Championship.
“Without question, there is a youth movement in bowling at all levels and we (Storm) are working diligently to identify and procure some of our sports’ finest young talent not only domestically but globally”, Storm public relations manager Dave Kost said. “Daniel, much like Jesper Svensson, has recognizable talent and is a true professional on and off the lanes and is another important piece to the puzzle of our commitment to grow the sport worldwide”, added Kost. “We are very fortunate to add another rising superstar like Daniel to our roster, we’re excited to be a small part of what we feel will become a long, successful career under our Roto Grip brand”.
Fransson will now bowl full-time on the PBA Tour including the new PBA Fall Classic October 19-26 and GEICO PBA World Series of Bowling VII December 7-19, 2015 in Reno, Nevada. In addition to PBA stops, he will continue to bowl a demanding international schedule.
