Greetings and Salutations! Welcome to this week’s edition of Striking Spotlight! This edition we will look at giving back. How can one give back to the sport in our local area? I can think of a couple of ways… You can always go down to your local center and ask to see the Youth Director and see if they need additional coaches for their youth program. Another way to give back is checking with either your local and/or State USBC Association to see if there is any open spots on their board. Working with your Association you get to see the inner workings of the USBC at the local/state level. Working Tournaments from the Youth Championships all the way to the Senior Championships. I have been recently named to a Director position on my local USBC board and this past weekend had the pleasure of working the Valley of the Sun Senior Tournament. On top of the Hall of Fame bowlers that were on the squad it was a true treat to get to watch Pete Partridge. For those of you that do not know the name he was on the TEAM USA in 1994. Mostly known for his appearance in the 1993 International Amateur Championship Bowling Tournament where he went up against Robert Smith, but lost 181 to Smith’s 258.
