Learn the Lingo

In this edition we are taking a look at SPORTS ‘color commentary’. Their list of strike calls is feeble at best. I feel that commentators (ie like Rob Stone) need a list of strike calls. Here at Positive Axis Point we feel that we have compiled the best list of strikes calls that our friends at ESPN or anyone else should take a look at. If you feel that you have a better strike call for any one, please post or email it to me here at PAP.
LIST OF STRIKE CALLS ( IN A ROW )
1 – ACE
2 – DEUCE
3 – TURKEY
4 – FOUR BANGER ( CONCENSUS WAS TO NOT GO WITH THE HAMBONE , I DON’T UNDERSTAND IT ANYWAY )
5 – YAHTZEE or DROP A NICKLE
6 – SIX PACK or DEAD TURKEY ( YOU HIT IT TWICE )
7 – 7 UP
8 – SNOWMAN or SUPER 8
9 – 9 WAY
10 – DROP A DIME or BIG TEN
11- MATCHSTICKS or TWIN STIX
12 – PERFECTO or STRAIGHT KILL
We know that a lot people watch the PBA on ESPN and other channels, we understand the vernacular of bowling and would like the commentators show the enthusiasm of our sport in their calls. I know some can’t be used on TV, even us old-time bowlers don’t understand some of the commentators calls. Most all of us understand the standard calls, such as the split “ The Greek Church “ . However I just want some “ Color “ (enthusiasm) to the match the calls that we can all enjoy and understand.
